Thank you to Net Galley for my complementary e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My Rating: 3.5/5 Stars

My Synopsis: This book is the 3rd in The Devil Wears Prada series. The book follows previous Miranda Priestly assistant Emily Charlton as she is making her way with her own company as a publicist for the rich and famous. An unlikely departure from her fashionable life in Los Angeles, Emily lands in Greenwich, CT (where Lululemon is the uniform and there always seems to be a bottle of wine and gossip nearby) to work with a new client — Karolina Hartwell.

Emily and Karolina meet through mutual friend Miriam, a high powered NYC lawyer who has moved to the suburbs and given up her career for the time being. Karolina is a former supermodel, wife of a senator who has presidential aspirations, and stepmom to 12 year old Harry. Karolina has recently been arrested for a DUI with her son and his friends in the car. The catch? She wasn’t drunk. Was Karolina set up? And who would be out to get her? Emily, Miriam, and Karolina are on a mission to find out.

My thoughts: This book was a great summer read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book is laugh out loud funny and I loved the irreverent tone with which the suburbs are described. The book is told from multiple viewpoints, which I also enjoyed.  My favorite part of the book was seeing in Emily in a different, softer way. In The Devil Wears Prada I always saw Emily as harsh and unfeeling, but despite her tough exterior we get to see a warmer side of her in this book. I also enjoyed the focus on female friendship and on women rallying around one another.
