ARCs, Fiction, Nonfiction

Books I’m Taking on Vacation!

Hello! I hope you are doing well and that you are staying cool! Here in North Carolina we are having quite the heat wave!

I have started packing recently for family vacation and the hardest thing to pack? Which books I am going to take! If you know me well, you know that I normally have THREE titles I am reading at any one time: an audiobook for the car, a nonfiction book, and a fiction book. I think I am more of a mood reader than I would like to admit, so this system let’s me pick up what I am wanting to read at the moment without going into a reading slump.

Given my system of reading, I am going to need some extra titles in my suitcase for vacation. Here’s what I am thinking of packing:

1- Shortest Way Home by Miriam Parker:  I just received a free ARC copy from Dutton Books (thank you!) and I think this would make a great vacation read. It is set in wine country and involves a female main character Hannah who abandons her “dream job” to save a failing winery. With that description, I am all in!

You can pre-order this title (out July 31, 2018) here: https://amzn.to/2z3Hhyp

2-The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker: I have an ARC copy of this on the way thanks to my awesome friends at Atria Books. This book is set in the Alaskan wild and involves a love story, making amends with estranged family members, and a big dose of nature!

You can pre-order this title (out August 7th, 2018) here: https://amzn.to/2z7M1mG

3-The Secret to Southern Charm by Kristy Woodson Harvey: I loved Harvey’s first book in this series, Slightly South of Simple. Secret to Southern Charm picks up where the last book left off with sisters Sloane, Emerson, Caroline and their mom Ansley. I cannot wait to dive in. This book is a perfect read for a day at the water.

4-My Freshman Year: What a Professor Learned from Becoming a Student by Rebekah Nathan: This book was released in 2006 but I just recently heard of it for the first time. Aside from running my business, I work part-time as an adjunct professor at a local college and I think this book is going to be right up my alley. It follows a long-time professor who became confused and puzzled by the culture of college students these days. So, she did what any good anthropologist would do– she went and lived like the people she wanted to study and enrolled in school. I am really excited to read this one!

5-Dreams of Falling by Karen White: Thank you to Berkley Publishing for my complimentary review copy of this book. This book takes place in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and follows two lifelong friends who share a devastating secret.
