πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Happy Pride πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ…all year long!

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Although I took a bit of a hiatus from this space in June, I didn’t want to let the month pass without saying Happy PRIDE! Here are the books I’ve been celebrating with by re-reading in June! Not pictured: my fave bell hooks and Audre Lorde titles currently on loan to a friend.

My personal thoughts: although Pride Month only officially happens 1 month per year, I try to educate myself, advocate for others, and be an ally 365 days per year. I don’t think it is enough to raise awareness 1 month per year and the co-opting of Pride worries me (more on that another day). I am not perfect and I am constantly growing and trying to do better. I do this in how I show up in my work as a clinical social worker/therapist, in examining my privilege, in my ally-ship, in the books/content I consume, and in how I choose to move through the world honoring the pronouns, identities, and struggles of others. I honestly feel these may be small things to some, but they are big things to me and the least I feel can do as a decent human.

I am committed to continuing to read books written by LGBTQ authors, reading books featuring LGBTQ main characters, and featuring these books on my page/blog year round. If you are too, please drop a πŸ’œ in the comments below!
