Title: Everybody (Else) Is Perfect
Author: Gabrielle Korn
Pub date: January 28th 2021
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
30 Second Book Summary: Everybody (Else) is Perfect follows Gabrielle Korn through her meteoric rise in the magazine industry at Nylon Magazine and Refinery 29. With that level of success, however, comes many pitfalls. This book is a refreshingly honest look at so many of the issues that women face in the career space and beyond.
My Thoughts: I appreciated this book so much. I found myself identifying with Gabrielle as she navigated the pressure to “check all of the right boxes” in life. I found her struggles with body image, imposter syndrome, and the pressure to be perfect so relatable that the book felt like talking to a friend. Regardless of interest in the magazine industry, I think this book will be relatable for female identifying readers. The inside look into the magazine industry will be an added bonus for readers like me who love memoirs that lift veils on the behind the scenes of different careers.
